Ayatollah Sayid Mortadha
Al-Qazwini was born in the holy city of Karbala, and he lived in Karbala
for a long period of time. Ayatollah Al-Qazwini had to flee Iraq in 1970
because of the persecution he faced from the corrupt Ba'athi regime.
Ayatollah Al-Qazwini was denied visiting his own hometown after he fled
for more than 33 years. In April 2003, upon the toppling of the corrupt
Ba'athi regime, his eminence finally returned to his hometown of
Karbala. He stayed in Iraq for about 5 months, and in August he returned
to his family in Los Angeles California in the United States. Ayatollah
Al-Qazwini then returned to Karbala after a few months, and he stayed in
Karbala until he left to perform the Hajj.
Ayatollah Al-Qazwini came back to Los Angeles after performing the Hajj
this year. On February 9, the Ayatollah arrived in Los Angeles, as he
was passionately welcomed and greeted by his family and relatives.
Insha'allah this year Ayatollah Al-Qazwini will lecture in Los Angeles
in Assadiq Foundation during the month of Muharram as he will
commemorate the tragedy of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein. His Eminence
lectured in Kuwait for several years in the early 90's. After several
years, he started commemorating Ahsura' in Los Angeles. He lectured in
Los Angeles during Muharram for many years, except last year in which he
lectured in Karbala. This year he is back to lecture Insha'allah once
again in Los Angeles California. Whether in Karbala or in Los Angeles,
Ayatollah Al-Qazwini always lectures about Imam Hussein, and even more
than 7500 miles away from his shrine, Ayatollah Al-Qazwini always
remembers Imam Hussein.
