On Friday April 9 and Saturday April 10, Sayid Hassan Al-Qazwini
commemorated the Arba'in (40th) of Imam Hussein, marking 40 days
after the martyrdom of our great Imam Hussein. The Young
Muslim Association held a commemoration for the English-speaking
congregation for Imam Hussein on Friday April 9. The program
began with recitation of the holy Qur'an. Imam Qazwini then
delivered a lecture in which he explained the importance of the
revolution of Imam Hussein. He also explained and addressed the
reasons for why Imam Hussein revolted. Following the Imam, guest
speaker Sheikh Hisham Al-Husaini delivered a speech. He
explained and identified the essence of Imam Hussein, his
background and closeness to the holy Prophet Mohammad.
Sheikh Al-Husaini concluded his speech by mourning Imam Hussein
and mentioned some of the tragedies that fell upon his family
after he was martyred. On Saturday April 10, the Islamic
Center of America held a program for the commemoration of the
40th of Imam Hussein for the Arabic-speaking congregation. Sayid
Hassan Al-Qazwini first delivered a speech as he explained the
significance of Ashura and the why we commemorate Ashura and the
40th of Imam Hussein. Following Sayid Hassan, Sheikh Mohammad
Dabuk spoke a few words and then mentioned some of the
post-Ashura tragedies and mourned for Imam Hussein. |
